About my ratings:
| 0-4 | Awful-to-bad - I definitely will not return! |
| 5-6 | So-So - I probably won't be back unless they're close by
and/or super-cheap |
| 7 | Good - I wouldn't go three cities out of my way to try it,
but if it's quasi-local, it's worth checking out |
| 8-9 | Very good - I would eat here any time the opportunity
presented itself |
| 10 | Perfection! |
My opinions are mainly based on the quality of the food, and the
appropriateness of the service and decor to the venue. A greasy spoon with
funky, crooked decor, beat up wooden furniture, and gruff service can score
just as highly (or moreso!) as a fancy French joint with swank ambience
and fawning service (provided of course, that the food is great in both
cases!). I don't make too much effort to be imparital, and tend to have an
affinity for those little neighborhood joints that keep you coming back (eg.
Firefly, New Kapadokia, Vik's Chaat), over the "destination"-style
restaurants, which I can't afford to eat at very often anyhow!
