Not the sort of breakfast joint one expects to find in San Francisco! The red vinyl upholstered interior befits the locale (attached to the Broadway Manor Hotel), and the workers do too.

We were seated immediately upon arrival at 11am on a Saturday. There were a few other patrons, and the morning paper was brought to our table along with our (bad) coffee. A gruff white-haired man, who I assume is Peter D, barked and grumbed from the kitchen, and the waitresses all looked like they should be named Flo - friendly, in a brusque sort of way.

The menu is standard american breakfast fare, and after a brief perusal, I decided on the special of a chicken habanero sausage omelette, and Sarah ordered the eggs benedict. Our orders quickly arrived and we dug in.

My omelette was overcooked and somewhat rubbery, but at least the sausage within was alright, and the potatoes on the side were actually pretty good. Sarah said her benedict was about average (it didn't look very appealing to me, so I refrained from asking for a bite).

Although the food was unremarkable, it was a fun place to have breakfast, and several short restaurant-wide conversations about the weather and such broke out while we were there. The grumbly chef might put off some folks, but we thought he was funny. Whether that is his intent or not I cannot say.

Still at the end of the day, the food wasn't great, and there are a number of other breakfast options (most with a wait, however) a short walk from here, so we aren't likely to return anytime soon.
