- Excellent pizzas in a cute little (and I mean little!) space. Sarah
and I arrived shortly after 5 on a Friday and had no trouble getting a
seat, but this had changed by the 6:00 hour - the place was packed!
Sarah ordered a egg, pancetta and roasted potato (~$12) pie while I had a lamb sausage and fresh tomato (~$12). Mine arrived first, a tasty (and tomato sauce-less) thin crispy dough laden with delicious gooey cheese and dotted with yummy bits of sausage and tomato. Mmmmm.
Sarah's pizza arrived quite a bit (15min) later, actually pretty good timing since we'd just finished the sausage. The egg/pancetta/potato affair was topped with fresh arugula (not either Sarah's or my favorite green, but it worked well for me in this context, and was easy enough for Sarah to pick off). Although completely different to any pizza I've had previously, the egg pizza was absolutely fantastic (and salty)!
Sarah drank Peroni ($4) to quench her thirst, while I had a couple glasses of a local Pinot Noir ($8/ea). Certainly not a super-speedy restaurant, but it's a great place to sit and chat while waiting for some way above-par pizza.
On a lunch visit, we arrived just after noon and were the first customers. We split a cheese plate (a sharp semi-soft cheese, a mild soft white cheese, mixed olives, sliced radishes, lightly candied walnuts and yummy crusty bread, $8) and a lamb sausage, egg and goat cheese pizza with pea sprouts ($12). As before, the pizza was great - simple, but well-executed, and with quality ingredients. Since we were early and alone, service was prompt and cheery. Definitely worth a visit.
