- Great carne asada burritos at a fair price greeted me on my one
visit to Cumbre's San Mateo location. I foolishly ordered the super
deluxe burrito, which proved to
be far more food than I needed, but I did get to enjoy a huge serving
of their excellent carne asada. Quickly-served, I feasted on the
well-flavored meat, which had a deep smokey flavor, accompanied by just
the right mix of rice,
beans, and the usual accoutrements.
Their tacos are a good cheap alternative to the enormous burritos, and cost only two and a half bucks for a basic one. I've only had the carne asada here, so can't comment on any other meats. The chips are unremarkable, but the green salsa is nice and firey. The super burrito seems to be a good balance of meat to other ingredients without being too overstuffed.
I go to their Valencia St. location whenever I'm in the area and have a burrito craving, and always leave happy and full. Unlike the SF location, the San Mateo Cumbre has easy parking, no lines, and seating a-plenty.
