The Climb to Kaiser

30 miles into the ride and I'm still smiling. Photo taken by Glenn.

An old barn in Burrough Valley.

Serene ride through Burrough Valley. The pleasantness was to be short-lived, alas!

I'm pretty sure this church was erected to ward off the evil road of Tollhouse Grade....

A pretty rock point. Hmm, is that a road shooting up the side of the mountain? Why yes, its the Tollhouse Grade!

It was a pretty difficult climb up Tollhouse, but at least the road surface was perfect!

Lovely Shaver Lake.

A fine Sierra view on the way to the tiny hamlet of Big Creek.

Climbing lovely, narrow, hot, steep Big Creek.

Looking back down towards Big Creek on one of a bazillion mid-to-high-teen gradients. Note the abundant shade.

Hazy mountains in the distance distracted me somewhat from the climb up Tollhouse Grade.
