The Climb to Kaiser

Climbing lovely, narrow, hot, steep Big Creek.

Looking back down towards Big Creek on one of a bazillion mid-to-high-teen gradients. Note the abundant shade.

Huntington Lake sure was a welcome sight after climbing Big Creek!

Huntington Lake Rd. was very pretty (once we got past the horrible climbing that is!).

If this isn't one of the nicer places to have lunch on a bike ride, I don't know what is! Lunch was right here on the shores of Huntington Lake.

Water gushing out of a hydroelectric station right at the start of the climb up Kaiser Rd.

Kaiser Rd. wasn't a very hard climb. Well, the first 5 miles weren't at least...

The old road leading to Kaiser Pass, much narrower and bumpier than the first 5 miles.

Nearing the top of Kaiser Pass.

Volunteers cheered me in as I came to the top of Kaiser Pass at long last.

Heading towards Kaiser Pass on Huntington Lake Rd. Although it was gently rolling hills, the 25mph speed limit was definitely not in danger!
